Hi my name is Alan Irish i have lived in Shrewsbury all my life , now 45 years young, barbel fishing and large chub have always been my favuorite and perhaps large roach, which seem to have dwindled some what on the severn in recent times, especially in shrewsbury.
As you are all aware there is great debate in shrewsbury at moment on this issue with many anglers blaming cormorants, gooseanders, otters etc.Have the silver fish disappeared or just moved on?
I caught a 3lb roach on the severn at monkmoor in shrewsbury about 15 years ago, and to be honest havent caught one since.
Anyway back to barbel fishing,i am luckily enough to be in prince albert angling society which has virtually the severn from melverly, criggion, welshpool to buildwas but since being a member have only fished my favourite places, propably about 6 different places in all,but vow to visit many new ones this year.
If anybody has ideas on successful rigs and baits please send me a message etc......thanks Alan
