Barbel On the Float

posted Aug 27, 2010 17:46:07 by TimHughes
Has anyone ever caught a Barbel while float fishing? It happened to me once when I was fishing the Teme at Stanford Bridge some years back. Running a stick float through a delicious piece of water, first fish was a chub of maybe 2lbs. Second run through and wham! a whiskers took my double caster bait and boy, did he make me have it! After many moments of panic and much drag adjustment he came grudgingly to the net. At 4lbs, he wasn't that big but on 3lb main line and 1.7 bottom he really made a name for himself, and nearly gave me a heart attack! Absolute magic. Anyone else had an experience like that?

Hi Tim,
Yes, caught a few fishing worms at Atcham on the Severn, biggest about 5 lbs but a very satifying method on lighter gear.

Hiya Rodders, I can assure you that it was me who penned that post. I don't think Tim even likes float fishing! Anyway, I am looking forward to our meet-up too. I hope there is a lot of water on when we get there. The Teme always fishes better with water on and a bit of colour. See you soon my friend.

Someone had posted it in the wrong section, so I cut and pasted it to the correct one. Keeping things tidy and all that! Haha
